About Me

When I was 8 years old, my mother saw that there was a sale on terracotta pots at Michael’s. She came up with the idea of painting them and adding silk flowers as a product to sell and that’s how I started Ruth’s Craft Shop! A few years later, I learned how to crochet from my paternal grandmother and eventually added scarfs and hats to my product line. In my teenage years, I took an interest in origami, which is how bookmarks were debuted.

My main inspiration in starting my own business at such a young age was my parents. They were both entrepreneurs, so you could say it runs in the family! Nothing compares to the freedom and flexibility you can have when working for yourself. When I’m not crocheting, I love to read! When I was growing up my mom always told me, “Reading is the special key to take you where you want to be.” It’s always important to grow in knowledge. Thanks for taking the time to learn more about me.
